What are Multiple Intelligences (MI)? MI is the theory that there are eight different methods of demonstrating intellectual ability in the child. Each of these intelligences is predominant either individually or in conjunction with another in the learner. At the Academy for Positive Learning we assess each child's intelligence by using Dr. Spencer Kagan's methods for MI Approaches to Assessment in all grades. We then implement the learning style that will bring out the best performance of each child. The emphasis on the Multiple Intelligences (MI) approach to education is profoundly important and unique at the Academy. We will identify progress and remedial needs, as well as improve a student's success on standardized tests. In addition to MI, we will also focus on Gifted, ESE, ESOL (ELL) and Bilingual Education in a multi-age setting. Cooperative Learning will be used to structure classrooms, staff relations and staff meetings.
